Checking In for Your Appointment
NYU Langone Health is introducing a new way for you to check in at your appointments. The new system, which replaces our current palm scanners, uses Amazon One and provides a faster, easier, and even more secure check-in experience. The devices are being installed over time, and we expect them to be in use at all NYU Langone locations by summer 2025.
What Is Amazon One?
Amazon One uses images of your palm to identify you. No two palms are alike, and the Amazon One service recognizes yours in seconds to confirm your identity during check-in.
Why Is NYU Langone Making This Change?
We are committed to providing the highest-quality experience for our patients. The new check-in system has several advantages:
- Quick: It significantly reduces the time you spend checking in.
- Personalized: Your palm is unique to you, and with this service, you can use it to identify yourself at check-in.
- Secure: This new technology enhances the security of our check-in process. It prevents duplicate records and is just one of the ways we keep your health record separate from those of other patients鈥攅ven if they have the same name as you.
How Do I Check In at My Appointment?
To check in with this new system, you must first sign up for Amazon One. You can do this through the from your Apple or Android mobile device or at a kiosk during your next visit.
When you arrive for your appointment, simply follow the instructions on the screen. The entire process is quick and easy.
Your Privacy Is Protected
The protection of your personal information is a top priority for us. We never share your health information with Amazon One, and Amazon One cannot access your health information. .
