Recognition

We are an American College of Surgeons Verified Trauma Center. In October 2024, New York State elevated our trauma center from Level 3 to Level 2.

Specialists at the Trauma Center at NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk deliver comprehensive and specialized care for patients with traumatic injuries.

As a Provisional Level 2 Adult Trauma Center within the Emergency Department at NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk, we are open 24 hours a day. Our doctors demonstrate a commitment to care by maintaining the highest standards required by the American College of Surgeons.

Our highly skilled team includes emergency medicine physicians, board-certified critical care trauma surgeons, anesthesiologists, orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, neurologists, nurses, and rehabilitation specialists.

Together, we provide rapid, coordinated care to people who have experienced motor vehicle accidents, sports injuries, falls, injuries due to violence, and other traumatic events, care.

The continuum of care for people with severe, potentially life- or limb-threatening injuries begins with our in-house care providers and specialists and concludes with a thorough assessment of patient needs and discharge planning. At each level, we provide the highest quality of care through evidenced-based best practices, ensuring that patients and their families are active participants.

We are also supported by a strong affiliation with the Level 1 Trauma Center at NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island.

Injury Prevention

At NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk, we are dedicated to fostering a culture of safety and wellness within our community. We emphasize injury prevention through education and awareness.

We offer resources and programs that educate people about common preventable injuries such as falls and motor vehicle, bicycle, or pedestrian accidents. By promoting safe practices, providing safety tips, and hosting workshops, we empower our community members to take proactive steps in protecting themselves and their loved ones. Together, we can create a safer environment for everyone.

Fall Prevention Programs

At NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk, we prioritize fall prevention through comprehensive programs to enhance safety and mobility for our community.

Our evidence-based fall prevention programs include A Matter of Balance, Stepping On, and Otago and are offered in collaboration with other health systems and community organizations.

These programs empower participants with knowledge and skills to reduce their risk of falling. Trauma Survivors Network

The at NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is a vital resource for patients recovering from traumatic injuries and for their families. Through this program, we connect survivors with support, education, resources, and virtual support groups to help them navigate their recovery journey.

The Trauma Survivors Network fosters a sense of community by bringing together survivors to share their experiences and learn from one another. By emphasizing resilience and empowerment, we help individuals rebuild their lives while also raising awareness about injury prevention to reduce future trauma in our community.
