As the Steere Abramson Associate Professor of Medicine at NYU Langone, I am dedicated to advancing patient care through innovative research and comprehensive treatment strategies. In my role as the director of the NYU Langone’s Judith and Stewart Colton Center for Autoimmunity and the Psoriatic Arthritis Center, as well as the associate director of research and translational medicine for the Division of Rheumatology, I am committed to improving the lives of those affected by autoimmune conditions. My passion lies in understanding the intricate mechanisms of these diseases and translating that knowledge into effective therapies.

I specialize in the management of psoriatic arthritis (PsA) and rheumatoid arthritis, focusing on the immune and environmental factors that influence disease progression. My research delves into the transition from psoriasis to psoriatic arthritis, the microbiome’s role in these conditions, and the impact of disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs) and immunotherapies. With over two decades of experience, my work has been published in prestigious journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine, The British Medical Journal (BMJ), Science Immunology, and Immunity, reflecting my commitment to advancing medical knowledge and patient care.

Throughout my career, I have been actively involved in leading-edge research and collaborative initiatives. As a founding member of the Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis Collaborative Multicenter Advancement Network (PPACMAN) and director of NYU Grossman School of Medicine’s Advanced Course in Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis since 2015, I have fostered a comprehensive approach to understanding and treating PsA. My leadership roles on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) Arthritis Advisory Committee and as chair of the National Psoriasis Foundation’s Scientific Advisory Committee further underscore my dedication to the field. Additionally, I am a standing member of the National Institutes of Health (NIH)–The Arthritis, Connective Tissue, and Skin Sciences (ACTS) study section.

My journey in medicine began in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where I earned my medical degree. I completed my internal medicine residency, rheumatology fellowship, and postdoctoral training at NYU Langone, driven by a desire to make a meaningful impact on patients’ lives. The collaborative environment allows me to work alongside experts from various specialties, ensuring that our patients receive coordinated and comprehensive care. My goal is to develop novel diagnostic and therapeutic approaches that can transform the lives of those living with autoimmune diseases.
