On this week’s #MixtapeMonday I’d like to share with y’all the latest mix by one of São Paulo’s hottest up & coming Bass producers & Djs… Diego Santos aka M.I.L.F
I asked him to tell us a bit about himself and about the mixtape…
“About me, well, I’m a 19 years old kid trying to make some noise with this project called “M.I.L.F.”. Not sure why I chose this name, it was just for aesthetics and for drawing attention, and of course… because it has an obvious sexual connotation. I have a contract with a french label ‘We Blast Out’ that releases my more serious work and of course some remixes too. I am also part of a collective of djs/producers/mcs called ‘Dirty Kidz Gang‘ – we are making some bad plans about steal the night to us and kill all the hipsters with some badass tunes on the clubs. Be careful, São Paulo: We’ll break your partys!
So, I made this mix thinking about last year, which was a great year for little-know genres
like Dubstep, Moombahton or even the dirty Hip Hop that fell again in favor of the mainstream.
There’s a little bit of old Dubstep tunes, like the first moment when I put Rapapampam from
MRK 1 with Doctor, E621 by Exponaut and obviously Bass Cannon. So then I’m gonna to
slow it to 110 bpm to Fresh. The coolest thing about Moombahton is that the slow tempo makes
the bassline jump even more, but without losing the latino swing of the father gender Reggaeton. I also put some tracks that I released by free download like Sinaloa, good moments of
Moombahton like Fuck This by Munchi, the JWLS stuffs that are great too. Some commercial
sh*ts like Iggy Azalea and Jay Z & Kanye West too, not forgetting of course Bass Down Low, Niggas In Paris and stuff like the new Buraka Som Sistema track called “A$$”. I thought about joining this Ghettotech tracks with some more accessible sounds but without losing the style.“
