My 6 months tour in Brasil come to an end with the release of this, I must say, BANGING #CariocaBass mixtape hosted by @ClubPopozuda London, an exclusive compilation of the hottest and most played tunes in Rio during the past Carnival and Summer.

On this mix, I put together all that Carioca Funk that played on radio constantly, we heard on the beach, blasted out from cars, played loud in the Bailes (parties) and were most talked about on the streets of Rio. I wanted to share with everybody who is either into the Carioca Bass movement or curious about it, what it sounds like living in Rio during this time of the year.

I was really interested in making a very eclectic and accessible mix representing the many sounds I’ve discovered during my 6 months trip playing in Brazil and that I felt other mixtapes or compilations had failed to give enough exposure to, because there were all too focused on playing the ‘Nu Wave’ in Carioca Funk. So I included genres like Funk Melody (Pop/R&B Funk), Samba Funk & Rap Antigo (Old School) which are very popular across the city, and I mixed them with more Alternative & Electronic tracks to give the mix a good contrast, adding my own flavour including some AfroBrazilian House and my own DJ edits as well.

This is not only one of the mixtapes I feel more proud of, coz not being funny, but it just sounds dope! but also because it has been really emotional putting it together. Each track of this mixtape has a history, a face behind it, an unforgettable moment… The Brazilian tour was an amazing experience, but it was really dificult at times too, so finally releasing this mix marks the end of the end of my Brazilian adventure, for now at least…
